Walter Rollin has been practicing as a speech, language and marriage and family therapist for over forty years. In the field of communication, he was one of the earliest authorities to bridge the gap between the influence and relationship of the family upon children and adults who are communicatively impaired. He has developed strategies that therapists could integrate into their work with the forenamed population.
In his practice as a marriage and family therapist, Dr. Rollin has interwoven a wide variety of psychological theories including Rogerian, Gestalt, Rational Emotive, Jungian, and Cognitive-Behavioral in his treatment of children and adults. He has worked with an array of disorders including anxiety, depression, personality and substance abuse.
Early in his career, Dr. Rollin discovered that many adults, including the university students he taught over a period of more than twenty-eight years, were not necessarily plagued by maladjustment or personality disturbances per se, but by life struggles. Oftentimes the daily struggles that consisted of a wide variety of indecisions were interfering with their lives in one way or another. As a result, he began conducting decision-making workshops throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Dr. Rollin is also the author of The Psychology of Communication Disorders in Individuals and Their Families as well as Counseling Individuals with Communications Disorders. He has an active therapy practice in Sacramento, California and continues to offer his popular decision-making workshops.
